Oxygen Administration

The use of Oxygen as an initial first aid treatment for any diving incident is widely known by all divers, but if you were the first on the scene would you be able to administer it ? The PADI Oxygen Administration Speciality is specifically design to train you in Oxygen Administration first aid for divers, and one day it really could save a life.

It always looks simple on the TV, but if you were diving in a remote spot around the UK coastline or on a dive boat with a small group overseas and your buddy or even divemaster were to suffer a diving incident, their recovery or survival could depend seriously on the speed in which they are administered oxygen. With this in mind it may be you (rather than the divemaster) that needs to assemble and set up the oxygen kit, and administer the oxygen.

The PADI Oxygen Administration Speciality is a classroom based programme, and incorporates initial self-study via the Oxygen Administration manual, and Instructor led practical appliaction sessions. Within the programme you will learn to Identify the Signs and Symptoms of DCI / Barotrauma and Near Drowing Injuries; Set Up and Prepare Oxygen Equipment; Safely and Effectivly Deliver Oxygen Therapy; and to Perform Neurological Assesments as oxygen therapy is ongoing.

On satisfactory completion of this programme you will be awarded the PADI Oxygen Administration Speciality, and have learned quite probably the most valuable set of diving emergency skills you may ever aquire.
