DrySuit Diver

The world is two thirds water, and not all of it is tropical, but why waste the opportunity to explore it ? The PADI Drysuit Diver Speciality is your ticket to a whole year-round, and even world-round underwater adventure. Once you can dive dry then you never have to stop exploring, whether its winter in the UK or even something extreme like Ice Diving in the arctic, the fun never ends.

As the UK is a little less than tropical we do suffer a slightly cool winter period, and that may unfortunately put some folks off diving during this time, but that’s a huge mistake as UK winter diving can offer some of the best visability; quiet dive sites; and even calmer waters to explore you may ever find here. The PADI Drysuit Diver Speciality will train you how to safely use; select; maintain and emergency-manage a diving drysuit, allowing you to capitalise on these off-season conditions.

The programme is delivered in the same way as many of our PADI programmes, via a self study manual prior to attendance on the programme, and then Instructor led review sessions prior to diving. This approach ensures your classroom time is kept to a minimum, and the fun to a maximum. Once your acadmeic review is complete you can begin the diving, which will initially be in the form of a Confined Water Pool familiarisation session (unless you have previous drysuit experience, when this can than be skipped), before heading out to open water for your two qualifying dives.

At both confined and open water you will complete a series of skill development drills aimed at assisting you to correctly weight up and prepare for your drysuit dive; descend under control; tune buoyancy using your drysuit; achieve maximum thermal gain from your suit; manage ascents; and manage any out-of-control buoyancy emergencies safely.

On satisfactory completion of this programme you will be awarded the PADI Drysuit Diver Speciality certification, allowing you to explore throughout the whole year and not miss a single days fun and adventure !
