Deep Diver
If you’re looking to extend your adventure, whether to explore a deep wreck or head alongside a vertical undersea coral wall, you must make sure you are fully prepared and qualified to do so and this is exactly what our PADI Deep Diver Speciality can do for you. Once you move beyond the recreational depth realm your scuba diving will take on a whole new meaning, and many other factors and considerations must be accounted for (not least that of ensuring you are appropriatly qualified to complete such dives, to avoid invalidating any insurance you may carry).

As a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver you are already qualified to dive to 30m, and have already discovered the more adventurous side of doing so, but now as you complete your PADI Deep Diver Speciality with our Instructors you will extend your limits right up to the full recreational limit of 40m. Your Instuctor will focus on explaining and in some cases demonstrating the effects of diving to such depths, and the importantance of giving them full consideration and respect, to ensure you stay safe as you explore.
This PADI Deep Diver Speciailty programme is conducted on a prescriptive basis with the aid of the PADI Deep Diver Manual, allowing you to complete your self-study prior to arrival on dive site. Your Instructor will then review these knowledge reviews with you (and the rest of your group) to ensure you have a full understanding of the dives and activities ahead. Key areas of focus within the academic development portion of this programme are:- Safe Planning of Deep Dives; Depth Limits; Specific Equipment Requirements; Special Deep Diving Techniques; The Effects of Nitrogen Narcosis; Increased Potential fo Decompression Sickness; Travelling at Altitude after Deep Diving; and Emergency Equipment Considerations.
Once the academic review is complete its time for some adventure ! Within your PADI Deep Diving Speciality you will complete a total of four deep dives (between the 18m to 40m range) and during these dives you will complete a series of skills and drills designed to illustrate the effects of diving to depth. These tasks may be simple timed tasks, to demonstrate the impairment that nitrogen narcosis can cause; colour comparisons, to demonstrate the importance of equipment colour considerations; regular air monitoring in order that you understand the relationship between depth and more rapid air usage; and a considerable focus on appropriate descent and ascent techniques and safety stops.
On satisfactory completion of this programme you will be awarded the PADI Deep Diver Speciality certification, qualifying you to dive to depths up to maximum 40m, opening up a whole new world of deep diving adventure and discovery !
Note:- This programme is also available as a package alongside the Wreck Spec, within our Spec Xtra v2 Weekend, enabling you to complete two of the best PADI specialites in a single weekend.
