Emergency First Responder

The unexpected and unfortunate can occur anywhere, but how many of us would be able to assist and help ? Our Emergency First Responder (EFR) programme is probably our most useful and relevant programme, to prepare you for all day to day emergency scenarios. Within the programme you will be trained in basic Primary Care and Secondary Care First Aid, all of which is done in general life terms rather than a diving specific nature. This EFR programme (or equivilant) however is the prerequisite model for the PADI Rescue Diver and all PADI Pro programmes beyond.

As with all of our programmes the Emergency First Responder (EFR) programme is taught on a prescriptive basis, with the aid of a Self-Study Multi-Media Pack. Your Multi-Media Pack contains your EFR Training Manual; Emergency Quick Guide Card; Trainig Bandage Pack; Disinfectanct Wipes; EFR DVD and EFR Certification Fees, and is intended to be reviewed fully before attending the traning session.

Once at your training session our Instructor will work through your Primary and Secondary Care Knowledge Reviews with you, and the other students in your group, to ensure that you have understood the fundamental basics of Emergency First Aid, from your Self-Study. Once the basics are out of the way its over to practical application and practise.

The first elements of practical application will see your Instructor demonstrate and then allow you to practise each of the individual EFR emerency skills. These skills will include Victim Approach; Symptom and Sign Recognition; Life Sign Checks; CPR; Emergency Rescue Breathing; Recovery Position; Shock Management; Bleeding Control and many more.

Once you have perfected your basic skill sets its over to a scenario based application of them. Within this element of your programme your Instructor will devise a number of incident scenarios for you and your fellow students to respond to and manage, in order to finally perfect and demonstrate your newly aquired skills.

On satisfactory completion you will be issued with an Emergency First Responder (EFR) Certification Card. Your traning is classed as valid for a period of two years, however on expiry of this time re-tranining is reccomended and required in order to keep your certification valid.

Note: The Emergency First Responder programme is the recommended pre-requisite First Aid qualification for PADI Rescue Diver training, and all further PADI Professional programmes.
