Tech Pursuits Goes Archeological
With diving becoming more and more difficult as the winter weather drew in, it was decided that it was about time we did a course that was based in a swimming pool.

With that in mind, and with the aid of some foul welsh weather, members of the tech pursuits team made their way to Plas Menai in North Wales to attend the  Introduction to Foreshore & Underwater Archaeology course run by Nautical Archaeological Society (NAS).

The course is a one day affair consisting of theory, dry (indoors in this case luckily) and pool practical sessions.  Much against our original expectations, the course isn’t run by boring people with beards and tweed jackets with leather elbow patches, but is actually very interesting and thoroughly enjoyable.  No matter how good a diver you may think you are, trying to measure small artifacts in a swimming pool with a 30m tape measure is a lot trickier than you think!

Birmingham Dive Show - Big Discounts - Great Technical Diving Advice

It was big, and it was indeed clever (well our guys were anyway), yes it was the Birmingham Dive Show. This was our platform for the launch of Techpursuits, the dedicated technical diving division of The Scuba + Outdoor Pursuits Group.

On build up day we found the IANTD “octo-stand” and then spent the next couple of hours talking to our neighbours, Phil Short and IANTD’s own team, about pretty much everything technical. After that we popped up our displays, stood back in awe at Phil G’s superb artwork, and like all good divers headed off for a pint.

As the show opened on Saturday, we were very grateful of our relaxing build up day, and especially the liquid lubrication of our vocal cords the evening before. It was absolutely rammed, we pretty much never stopped talking to folks.

The enquiries were completely varied, and ranged from Advanced Nitrox and Recreational Trimix programmes, right through to Ambient Pressure Inspirations and CCR training courses. Judging by the great feedback, we seemed to have answered everyone's questions well, and we certainly took enough course bookings.

So all in all a really great weekend, so a big thanks to all of you that came over and had a chat, and for anyone we didn’t manage to get to; our apologies. Of course if you have any un-answered questions, we are always here and happy to help, just click here to get in touch.

STOP PRESS - FREE Trimix
New Trimix panel now installed at Tech Pursuits HQ in Cannock! To celebrate the commissioning of our new Trimix facility at our main store in Cannock, we are giving it away - Trimix that is. Yes this winter you can dive for less, with
FREE Trimix !

With winter being the best time to hone your skills, and build up your experience ready for another busy season in 2007, we wanted to do something to make it a little less painful (hey its chilly enough anyway) on the wallet. So after much deliberation, we decided it was easier to simply give you, your gas for FREE.

To get your hands, or rather lungs, on the deal simply drop your cylinders in to one of our three stores, and our Tech Pursuits Team will complete your blend, ready for collection. so overall the deal is this "you get 30% of your gas for FREE every time you fill up" !

All Trimix blends will be completed by our fully trained tech Pursuits team, within our regular blending schedule.

* Free Trimix offer limited to 2 cylinders (e.g. manifold twin set) per person, per week. Delays due to demand may be unavoidable. Offer expires end of January 2007. This offer may be altered or withdrawn without prior notification, management decision is final.

TechPursuits Joins Expedition
As Techpursuits is built on a “Doing It” not just “Talking About It” basis, we wanted to keep you up to speed with what we have been up to. At the end of the day our team are only as good as their last dive, or rather the cumulative experience of their many dives and what could be better experience than being part of an expedition team searching for the infamous Nazi Raider Warship the HK Komet.
