 Ok,
by now you already know the benefits of nitrox, and no-doubt have
been using
it successfully for some time, but now we need to help you move onto
the next level; The
IANTD Advanced Nitrox Diver Course.
Whereas up until now you have always used just one breathing gas
from start to finish throughout your dives now you will learn to
take advantage of an alternate nitrox mix during your ascent.
As your diving
becomes more adventurous and you begin to clock up more
decompression time, the time penalty during your ascent allocated
for decompression stops becomes longer and longer. These stops are
of course, currently, based on calculations related to your single
dive gas that you have used throughout the dive. However this may
not be the best mix to facilitate efficient flushing of nitrogen
during decompression stops. As you know, the best breathing gas for
an efficient decompression stop is one containing a higher than
normal oxygen percentage, and this is the course where we teach and
train you all about it.
The
IANTD Advanced Nitrox
Diver Course
programme is run over two full weekends, and is split between our
main training centre in Cannock and an open water dive site, for
which we generally use Stoney Cove in Leicester. To fully explain
the layout of your course a sample schedule is given below:

Final Assessment
 The
classroom portion of your programme will introduce you to the
specifics and theory you will need to know, to be able to safely use
and benefit from accelerated decompression procedures. As you will
already have a basic nitrox diver qualification, either from IANTD
or another organisation, this should prove not too difficult. Of
course as with all our training courses, our world class training
team will put in all the time you need to make sure you are happy
and fully understand absolutely everything involved.
In addition to the
book work, your training team will introduce you to the finer points
of equipment configuration specific to your new level of technical
diving. This is not intended to push you into spending a fortune,
merely to suggest where you need to be aiming for when you move
through to the next level, simply trying to save you from making
some ghastly mistakes in the future.
When you move to
the open water portion, in your newly configured equipment you will
complete over 120 minutes of dive time, during which you will
complete and perfect a whole range of required skills. Your skills
will include; out of air simulations; no mask swims; gas sharing;
emergency shutdowns and equipment removal and replacement, all of
course combined with proper dive planning and CNS monitoring. Your
training team will be with you throughout your dives and will be
evaluating you continually, of course correcting you and offering
guidance as you progress,
Yes, it's a
demanding course, probably your most demanding so far, but without
doubt by far the most rewarding! |
