DIVE CLUB - Lake Vivian - North Wales - January 2006
“Ok you lot lets get this show on the road” … were the words echoing around the Vivian car park, on this sunny yet cool January day, in fact I’m pretty sure that at least two walkers on top of Snowdon could here John’s rousing call.

This was a great start to the 2006 “Doing It …” season, total numbers at 18 “Doing It’ers …” and an assorted jumble of the training team there to help the day along smoothly. Of course the sheer presence of Director John at a UK dive site was enough to leave many of the assembled rabble in shock, but when he got kit out to dive the gasp was heard in Cannock (not that he ‘only’ dives in warmer climates these days – not much that is !).

Our tried and trusted “Doing It …” leader Barrie threw his all into the first brief, although suggesting that we all leaped ‘Kamakazi’ style off the high entry platform for our first dive went down like a lead balloon … Ok he was only joking, well sort of.

Once in we were all pleasantly surprised by the visibility, approx 10m’ish which was a really nice start to the dive, and right around the first pat of the wall it stayed great. The back wall where we found the deeper areas, of 18m was a little different, here the silt got kicked up really easily, but hey we cant have everything all the time.

There wasn’t a massive amount to explore around, and the fish life was minimal, but all in all the half time break consensus was that it was an enjoyable first dive and that the clear water meant it was worth a second paddle. We did loose two or three folks though (no not in the water, but off the car park), but we then found out that they had disappeared over to the famous “Pete’s Eats”. So they defiantly floated a bit better on the second dive, either through gas or just being slightly larger than on the first dive, that is.

With a giant leap from Phil, the second dive got underway in style. Of course that pails into insignificance compared to the sheer brilliance and style of Simon and Jules drysuits (oooh my eyes). After a pootle around in the opposite direction, and a death-defying venture into the old blast house it was up, up and away (down the pub !).

So another “Doing It …” adventure completed, and more friendships (mainly between local butterflies and Simons colourful suit), and its off home until next months “Doing It …” !
