Another new
addition to our WWR Itinerary, Oman promises to become a
regular fixture, with virgin reefs, warm water and a prolific
amounts of marine life...
Located just on
the south eastern corner of the Arabian peninsula, on the
Arabian Sea, and having only recently opened up its waters to
international divers the quality and untouched nature of
Oman's
reefs is nothing short of spectacular. The various dive sites
along its coast range from pristine reefs and stunning walls
to swift drifts, all offering masses of great wildlife. Key
areas include Fahal Island, which attracts large quantities of
Black Tip Reef Sharks and Turtles; the Daymaniyat Islands,
which are considered so valuable as a marine reserve that they
have been granted UNESCO protection, and the Straights of
Hormuz, whose waters are so plankton rich that they attract
over 900 species of different fish ...
The varied nature
of its dive sites result in huge potential to see pretty much
every fish in the book (literally), from Clown Fish; Parrot
Fish; Wrasse and Angel Fish, through to Rays; Turtles; Sharks
and maybe even Whale Sharks. These superb sites are also
complimented by a superb desert background ...
Your accommodation
for this one is as unique as the trip itself, with us opting
for the individual bungalows at the Nabucco Resort. The
bungalows each have air-conditioning; partially open air
bathroom; are en-suite and have their own front deck and
lounger area. The resort also has its own pool; restaurant and
bar ...
Our hosts for the
trip, Extra Divers, have recently (late 2007) taken delivery
of their new purpose built 18m dive boat, giving us rapid and
comfortable access to the best dive sites in the area ...
On this WWR trip
one of our most senior Instructors, S+O Group Leader - Will
Huskisson, will be on hand, from the UK airport onwards, to
make sure your whole trip runs smoothly and according to plan
...
If you are looking
for something new, and well off the beaten (or rather swum)
track, then this one looks simply superb ! |
