Doing It Weekends 2011
Once you have built your confidence then its time to get onboard (literally) and get off-shore for some more adventurous diving, bringing with it a whole range of new marine life, exciting sights and sounds to discover. These are a little more difficult to schedule and are added into the schedule on an adhoc basis, and then circulated via the eNews system.
Doing It Weekends - Exactly What it Says on the Tin
The Doing It Weekend events have opened more eyes to the joys of UK Scuba Diving than we can remember, with some truly legendary turn-arounds from Warm Water Only to dedicated UK all year round diver. When you consider the Seal Colonys of Lundy and the Farnes are 5000+ strong and we have some of the largest Sharks in the World (Relax – Harmless Basking Sharks) then its easy to understand how amazing a UK Diving Weekend can be.
The Doing It Coastal Events are generally targeted as two day events, although as we leave the accomodation to you to sort out then there’s no reason why you can’t extened the weekend (Non Divers are of course welcome). The two days would normally see you complete four dives, and these can be anything from Reefs, Seals or Basking Sharks to Wrecks.
We do have Hire Kit available for the dives (availability permitting) although by this stage we generally find that most of our divers would have the bulk of their own scuba kit, again the guys in the three stores would be happy to offer any advice you may need on selecting the right dive gear. If you do need hire kit then a full set of kit including BCD, Regs, Cylinder, Fins, Mask, Weights and Semi Dry Suit costs Only £35 per day, or you can go for the Drysuit Full Kit Option* at Only £45 per day. Other, single, items are available aswell just contact your local S+O Centre for details. We’ll even take your gear along for you, so thats even easier again, as long as you’ve booked and paid for it in advance.
The cost for these events is variable, dependant on the type of boat, area of the UK, time of year etc, but full details of the trip and its cost is always included in the eNews trip notifaction. Payment for these events is required in full to secure your place, and places are strictly limited so if you see one you like its always best to move swiftly. Again as the diving is a little more adventurous there are certain compulsary equpment requirements that each diver must have in order to participate in the event. Compulasry Equipment for these events includes Delayed SMB and Reel, Knife or Scissors, Torch, Whistle and in addition we reccomend a Strobe.
Our experienced S+O team will be on hand at these Doing It Weekends, however by this stage we are asuming that your diving is at a competence level that does not require us to actually dive with you directly. The S+O Team are on hand to deliver Dive Briefings, provide safety and Surface Support, Banter and Fun and of course drag you out for a beer in the evening.

Important:- As with all Doing It Diving Activities you MUST sign into the Operational Log for the event, agreeing Doing It Club Terms and confirming qualification levels, prior to comencing on any event. With this in mind you MUST always have your Certification Cards with you at all events (Inc Pools).
