Ah well
this one wasn’t quite “according to plan”, with our
UK Shore Diving
definitely being beaten by Mother Nature. As myself and the rest of
the Scuba + Outdoor Doing It Team arrived at Treffor Pier, we were
met by a mix of facial expressions. We had everything from “Ooo Er”
– You’re not really going to make us get in there are you ?; through
“”Waheyyy” – Lets Do It !; to “Boo Hoo” – We wanted to dive in the
sea.
We
assessed the dive site and unfortunately decided that the sea state
and weather conditions were not suitable or safe for our days
UK Shore Diving.
It was a little disappointing, especially as the weather forecast
was actually pretty good, but everyone understood the reasons. As
with every cloud however, even the big bugger that was overhead,
there was a silver lining and this one came in the form of Vivian.
Yes, we managed to cheer everyone up (just a little) with the
promise of them still getting wet, at the nearby inland dive site.
After cavalcading the wagons, and heading inland for half an hour,
we circled them and watered the horses (sorry I’m getting a little
too John Wayne now !). This great little inland site has great
visibility, and is probably the most picturesque of any of the
inland dive sites.
We briefed the collected divers, and gave them the tour of the site,
and then buddied up for our days (slightly later than planned)
diving. Ok, it wasn’t quite the spectacular days UK Shore Diving
that was planned, but after the first dive and much sarcasm directed
at me and the team, it looked like everyone had enjoyed their inland
dive.
The main topic
of discussion revolved around the “Beautiful Mermaid” that had been
glanced by a lucky few. We of course didn’t have the heart to tell
them it was a Marks & Sparks special, straight out of the local
store !
After our brief surface interval, and slightly more sunshine than we
had had all day, we paired back up and headed back in for another
adventure. Full marks to some of the guys who threw caution (and
certain parts of their anatomy) to the wind and braved the high
platform entry – ouch !
On this dive it seemed that the resident fish and eels had decided
to come out to play, with certain areas around the block house
teeming with them. Well either that or they couldn’t get to sleep
with all our laughing.
Oh well, unfortunately no UK Shore Diving this month, but hey
there’s still plenty of season ahead – Catch you next time ! |
