DIVE CLUB - Capernwray - Lancashire

Ooooh ! … What a nice site, yep that’s pretty much what everyone one of our happy little “Doing It’ers …” said when they pulled up to this “Doing It …” dive.

This months dive was at Capernwray which for those who have never been there is up in Lancashire, so it’s a bit of a journey, but well worth it.

It seemed like the lure of the Christmas shopping may have beaten some of our normal crowd, but with the newly named “Doing It Ten …” (sounds like they should be locked up for something, ok anything really) the day began.

As normal the carefully calorie controlled; fat balanced and carb monitored pre-dive breakfasts were consumed. They of course seemed to slightly resemble what’s more commonly known as a bacon sarnie, but that was a deliberate action to avoid looking too serious.

Ok, once Dave had finished the brief (long but well worth it – ooh er missus !) it was in and away, of course no dive at Capernwray was to be complete without every single one of us jumping on the famous ‘Lord Lucan and Shergar’ horses. Ok not the real ones but some pretty convincing models, well convincing if you closed both eyes really really tight, that is … It was decided that with his vice like thighs, and firm grip Barrie was by far the best horseman this time round.

A quick break, mainly for a wee wee stop, because some (who will remain nameless can’t hold their tea), and its was back in for a second splash around … The target this time being the Podsnap, a retired mine sweeper vessel … Oh boy was this like play time for the boys, all that was visible for most of the dive was the odd head, or bum sticking out of a hole or window, here and there.

So then that was it, after much playing and underwater giggling when certain folks, who were a little bigger than they though around the waist, got temporarily stuck during their James Bond style playing on the Podsnap, it was time to depart …

Until next month that is !
